On the Wednesday before the Friday due date that would mark the end of our two weeks to create and complete the marketing campaign on social media as well as the editing and album cover. We met again to give feedback on the products as well as make sure we are all on track. Below is the feedback for all group members and I’s work so far.
Feedback on Instagram:
The first note of feedback is that the magazine cover that I found and edited to make it look like the band is featured on it would not be allowed as it does not qualify as my own original image. I then had the idea of cropping the image into just the sections that featured the band that I had created and then write on the caption that we have been featured on the magazine but only featuring parts that are my work and not taken from the web as this would count as plagiarism. This was also true for the picture I had of Brighton as it was taken from the web with a caption saying where are you from? This is trying to interact with the audience and create a greater familiarity, as it's not my image I will thus use another picture of a city I have taken or alternatively use a photo of the band and have the same caption as this still holds the same effect.
It was also suggested that I needed more personal and lifestyle pictures of the band on the account to create a more familiarity with the band. As on this day we had only just completed the photoshoot I had not added all of the content desired as it was also suggested that I needed much more in terms of picture content for the Instagram. I also need to look at the order in which things are posted as it does not necessarily follow the research of the genre and I may need to move things around.
I had also made teaser trailers without sound, these were liked and the idea of it was great for the social media, and it helps to sell the music. Maybe some of them needed some sound behind them even if it had nothing to do with the album.
The Instagram was reported that it matches the genre and the band as some photos such as the flying flower has direct links to the band's logo.
Feedback on Twitter
A few of the entry's onto the twitter unfortunately had to be deleted as they were unoriginal and therefore would count as plagiarism.
There was lots of variety that was good, most of the content follows the genre conventions as well as the star image of the band and do a very good job at showing their personality. There could potentially be more posts promoting the album on the twitter.
We also thought that we could do another photo shoot for the next day but on such short notice it would be hard to get the band together as we could only get them together once. All of the posts match up with the other products and apart from having more posts and content there was no real criticism that needed to be applied to the twitter account as we all felt it was in a good position.
Feedback on digipak
Inside back, front cover
Inside front, back cover
The group all liked the digipak, all of the changes from the last feedback had been made. One thing that is yet to be added is we wanted to use white thin writing on the back cover for the band member's signatures and this is yet to be added as Anna needs my help for this as I have an iPad with an apple pen, and this would make this process smoother. Therefore, I wanted the whole album to be finished and the signatures to go on last as then it would work as nothing would need to be changed after as I would be adding the signatures onto a photo of the back cover.
We also thought we should make the track list smaller as it is a bit too big and dominates the majority of the back cover. The CD implant section also needs to be made bigger as in real life the CD takes up a lot more room than what has been designated for.
I also thought that the album name on the front could potentially be a little bit bigger as there is space for the text to be bigger and we want the name to be clear and apparent as it jumps out to the consumers.
Feedback on Editing (so far)
Below is the embedded version recorded from the editing suite from Florance's phone to show us the progress so far.
With feedback regarding the editing the final product was not yet finished. The main performance cut was there but non-of the single frame stuff was there yet and this is what would complete the product. Therefore, the main bits of feedback were to add in the single frame parts and potentially do some colour correcting if there is time at the end to maybe give the whole video a little bit of a shadow as it seems quite raw and light at the moment, we want a dark edgy urban feel to the video.
All the changed parts from the last feedback had been corrected and the group and I enjoyed them. Florance had also taken out the part of the guitar in the tunnel and instead just used the lead singer in the tunnel as the guitar section did not look good as a shot. Also, at the beginning of the video there are a few cuts of the drummer, and the energy is slightly different between them, and this can be seen. Maybe by merging these together or finding another shot for this section may make the video smoother.
