What is a campaign

What is a campaign

A campaign is the combined efforts of different variables working towards a combined goal, an example of this is a military campaign, as different areas of the defence force come together, navy and air force etc.

In terms of a music campaign, the aim is to promote a certain group or artist, using different area of media in the aim of promoting the act or promoting a certain release of music, such as an album or single. The record label uses music videos, album artwork, tours, live appearances etc in order to build demand for the products (music) from this artist as they have invested in the campaign and like any other business, they are looking for a return on their investment.

I will be creating a campaign for the Launch of a new artist's debut album. This campaign will contain a music video, social media, album artwork and a Digi pack. These elements will make up my music campaign and hopefully successfully Launch the career of a talented new artist.

Example of a music campaign

Wu-tang clan

In 2014 Wu-Tang Clan released a double concept album entitled ‘The Wu – Once Upon A Time n The Shaolin’, this was after they felt that music had lost its art like sense and they wanted to make music more of a fine art and not ‘cheap’. Their answer was an album encased in a handcrafted silver and nickel box made by British and Moroccan artist Yahya and is said to contain music never heard by the public from the group over the years. This album was tent on tour with the group and the only way to listen to the album was at one of the tour locations, after this one-time album has sold for $5 million, making it the most expensive piece of music ever, As Well as bringing a large amount of hype and demand for the artist due to the unique nature of this campaign.
