After our pitch feedback when we were told we can no longer do an office, we had a group meeting to discuss different directions that we could take our video as our office idea was criticised and not backed for the main reason that it would be likely to look bad and with covid-19 finding a whole office would be a Challenge.
We thought about different non-lip sync sequences we could create with the band originally being separate and coming together for example as the video progresses. Unfortunately, we had trouble coming up with a simple and effective idea that would make a nice music video as well as follow the song. The ideas we were coming up with were complex and didn’t have any clear progression or narrative.
We then came up with the idea of playing with the senses that we can on screen. We wanted to play with space and light in order to create an almost sensory experience within the music video as we wanted the aspects to all connect with each other with light for example. This could be potentially done with a manhole cover with holes in it projecting light within different aspects of the music video implying that rooms are connected.
This idea could then potentially be taken into a narrative that the band are in some form of underground sewer like labyrinth and that they have an enter into this space at the beginning potentially under one of the band members houses and then an exit at the end of the music video suggesting that the music has taken them into this space, and this gives the video a narrative with a progression and conclusion. This idea would have continued themes of confined space and having different size spaces such as a corridor. hanging shape and tunnels as well as rooms with low ceilings.
