Post production-making of social media 6

For this part of the social media campaign, I needed to make teaser videos and make the grid post of the album artwork. To do this I took my hard drive and uploaded some of the footage onto it in order for me to edit it into a few short clips that would tease the release of not only the music video but also the whole album release.

I went into the editing room, in which Florence was editing our music video as our editor. I once again took my hard drive and downloaded some of the uncut footage straight off the SD cards onto my hard drive.

This then allowed me to use iMovie on my laptop to edit together three short clips to be posted on the Instagram account to anticipate the release of the album. I wanted these videos to have no sound as they would give away the song. I want the album and its music to be a complete secret until the release.

I tried to make the videos not revealing  as they are mainly oriented around performance elements, this links back to my genre research where indie/rock bands are focused on the music and their performances hence why this element is being shown off on the Instagram.

I then prepared the grid posts for the Instagram, of the album cover. Anna sent me the finished version of the front cover and I will use this as a form of promotion of the album. I originally wanted to do it in six posts but this did not show enough of the cover, so I had to do eight squares. This will take up more of the feed, but the individual squares posted will make people curious as an individual grid post on its own will be confusing to some, they will thus have to visit the account page to see the whole picture.

As can be seen above these grid posts, that will be posted. I used the app, Planoly to create this grid. As it is posted straight onto the Instagram through the third-party app, I will wait for the album release in order to post it up.
