Feedback of group campaign

After the first week for my group and I working on our campaigns, we met to give some feedback and make sure that we are all on the same page. This means that any adjustments can be made to the products before the following week that is the deadline for the products. This also makes sure all the products correspond and make sense to go together with the whole band.

Social media feedback:

Feedback for the Instagram (me)

My Instagram posts that I had drafted for the social media campaign were liked as they look very real and they give the band the correct star image as it corresponds to how we all as a group feel the bands would represent themselves, it also attempts to give them all personalities individually this can be used to sell the band.

It was agreed that I need more content as I was not able to do the photoshoot, I also feel this way as I do not want the account to feel too similar to the specific song, we made a music video for. I want it to give a broad feel for the band as we are releasing the whole debut album as well as releasing the band onto the world.

All the things I created such as fake charts and radio shows where liked and everyone thought they were a promising idea. The tour dates post was questioned however as my group felt that the band are not big enough to be doing big tours like I had advertised, but we are yet to decide fully.

The Instagram links to the theme of the music video and the album artwork and therefore works well for the band. It also follows the genre as I used my genre research to guide me in completing it.

I need to complete another photoshoot as well as add more personal content as this is common within the genre. An extra photo shoot will give me the content necessary to compete the social media.

Feedback for Twitter (Neave)

For the twitter the genre is not as clear as it could be, with the lack of content it is hard to grasp at this stage what the social media feel like and how it relates to the band. Some of the content matches the genre but for example the picture of Kenny the lead singer (Doug) in a school classroom does not match the genre as our band are not in school and this picture damages the star image as it does not follow the conventions.

There is no real clear feel that this Is a band as very few pictures of the band all together, some of the pictures have a different band in them, the arctic monkeys are inn one picture although this does follow the same genre it gives of the wrong idea. Also, some pictures have multiple band members in them, and others have one (was not a member of our band). There is no clear link to show that this is a band in the twitter feed.

The genre is clear on some posts, and this suggests that some of the posts do follow the same theme and style of the other products such as the digipak and style of the music video. This is one real element of the twitter that works as the theme is clear. Colour scheme is very relevant and similar and other aspects are matched to the band.

What needs to be developed is some products, potentially some posters such as tour dates or album releases. Also there is a massive lack of content with barely any photos ETC, although we have not yet completed a photo shoot there was little content to feedback on. Therefore, more content needs to be developed.

Feedback for Digipak (anna)

The album artwork (digipak) was liked, the photos all match the genre of our band and match the theme of the song we made a video for being ‘urban.’ What was suggested is to follow the genre and the theme completely was to make all the aspects of the digipak, as in the panels as dark as the front cover as the front cover feels correct for the genre but then the other three feel a little bit light. The first front cover is more of a genre match then the other three.

The album name of ‘We all know’ works well as it also matches the edgy mysterious nature of Indie/rock. The only development for that area was the ‘know’ part of the phrase being the right way up so from straight on it looks clearer and more obvious in order to sell. The logo should also be put on the CD not on the front cover.

The dark front cover works to help the star image be reinforced this is an aspect of the album that works. Although the other three panels do not fit the star image nor the genre conventions of indie/rock. It is also clear that it is a band as there is no element of individuality. One element to be developed is the four band members signatures on the back cover. This would highlight they are a band and helps to create the star image as the band are being introduced to world for their debut album.

Feedback from Editing (Florence)

Below is the embedded video of what we saw of the rough cut and gave feedback for:

We looked at a rough cut of the edited music video that florence had created in her editing sessions. The genre was clear as the dark theme and the colours matched with genre conventions and other previous research done on the genre. In this sense the music video and the other products also match up as the album and the social media follows similar colour schemes.

The strobe elements match up well with the song and I feel work very well. Although the video is not fully developed, and we will still cut in the single frame elements in these strobe sections along with each other. This will complete the video I feel and give it that final polish.

There is one element of the video where the lead singer looks as though he does not know the words. For this part we may need to cut as it is the only obvious floor in the video so far. The rest of the video looks amazing, and I think in the next week of editing we will have an exceptionally good, finished product. The video also contributes to the star image as the members are very casual and the video is not too serious this links to Indie/rock genre conventions.
